      Duties:

      Incumbent will serve as a technical expert in identifying and providing technical recommendations for resolving new construction shipboard Aviation Facility problems to higher technical authority.

      Reviews detail design drawings, test procedures/reports, and technical manuals to ensure specification compliance and technical accuracy.

      Reviews Ship Specifications, Contract Drawings, Government Furnished Information (GFI), waivers/deviations, and other Government data for compliance to Navy Standards and Technical Guidance IAW 5400.95.

      Provides technical support between the Contractor, the Supervisor’s office, NAVAIR, NAVSEA, NAWC and other DOD Agencies in the identification and coordination of combat systems and equipment problems relating to design performance and testing requirements.

      Supports shipboard test and trials (dockside and at-sea).  Observes system performance and documents deficiencies as required.  Conducts and/or witnesses testing as requested by other SUPSHIP Departments or Naval Activities.

      Provides certification support as a subject matter expert for Shipboard Aviation Facilities and provide coordination with other Cognizant Engineering groups to support ancillary systems required for Aviation facilities certification. .

      Ensures that the Command’s mission, vision, and values are integrated into work plans.  Utilizes the Technical Support Management (TSM) system and other metrics to ensure effective performance.

      Technically and administratively, supports the Chief Engineer as required.

      Experience: (Note: The specialized experience must be addressed in the body of the submitted resume to be deemed qualified for this position).   Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.  Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Technical support for the design, construction, production monitoring, quality assurance, test or certification of complex shipboard systems and facilities onboard new construction Navy vessels. 2) Effective interpretation of technical and contractual documentation and specifications for the purpose of monitoring contractual compliance.
